Unveiling the Bright Future
What are LEDs?
LEDs are solid-state lights that use light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as the source of light. LEDs are semiconductors that glow when electricity is applied and have been used commercially for over 50 years. LEDs convert almost all the electricity used into the light output, making them a highly efficient light source. With minimal heat generated, LEDs are safe to the touch and do not produce any harmful UV rays. We have done the research to find the highest quality LEDs, so you get the peace of mind that your new LEDs will have the brightest light and longest life expectancy, which increases your return on investment.
What are the benefits of LEDs?
There are many benefits for installing LEDs, including:
- Saves you money by decreasing your power bill – up to 90% less energy consumption
- Instant light
- Long lasting – life expectancy of up to 70,000 hours
- Low fire hazard – operates at a low temperature
- Dimmable
- Bright light – Brightgreen D900 is equivalent to a 50 watt halogen
- Easy to install
- No hazardous waste
- Mechanically robust
How much money can I save with LEDs?
The savings you get comes directly from the amount of electricity you do NOT use when LEDs are installed in your home or office. The amount of money you save can vary depending on the number of lights you replace, but you can expect anywhere from a 60% (i.e. CFL replacement) to 80% (i.e. halogen replacement) energy savings in lighting.
What is the life expectancy of LEDs?
LED life expectancy can range from 30,000 to 70,000 hours. Our LEDs have a life expectancy of 70,000+ hours. Again, quality is the key. Our LEDs are consistently awarded the best LED light technology in Australia.
What is the warranty on our LEDs?
Most of the Brightgreen brand products (e.g. D900, D700+) come with 7 years warranty
Renesola brand Forge and Dean series comes with 7 year warranty
Are LED lights as bright as halogen lights?
Yes, you will be pleasantly surprised when you see the brightness of our LEDs. We consistently receive feedback customers saying that our LEDs are brighter than their old halogens.
Our D900 is the brightest standard sized LED downlight on the Australian market, at 953 lumens. The DR700 is packed with 720 lumens, the same as an average 50 watt halogen light.
How do you install LEDs?
Our D900 comes as an easy to install integrated fitting, including luminaire and constant current driver. It fits into the same 90mm hole cut out as your existing halogen downlight and has a plug pack attached to the driver. Simply remove your old downlight and plug in your new energy efficient D900.
Similarly, our DR700 replacement bulbs are easy to replace by removing the existing light fitting, disconnect the MR16 connection and remove the old halogen bulb. Clip the DR700 into place, connect the MR16 wire and place the fitting back in the ceiling.
What is a lumen?
A lumen is a unit of measurement that is used to express how much illumination a light source provides. The lumen can be thought of casually as a measure of the total amount of visible light emitted. So, as the amount of lumens increases the brighter the light.
What is lux?
Lux is a measurement of the light intensity falling on a surface. This measurement determines the brightness of a light in a space and is dictated by the Australian standards. Lux meters are available to determine lighting levels and evaluate the energy efficiency of lighting designs.
What are the different light colours of LEDs?
LEDs can illuminate in any colour as seen in billboards and other illuminated advertisements. However, for the home and office it is normal to classify the light as ‘warm’ or ‘cool’ light. Normally, the lower the colour temperature the warmer the light appears and vice versa. The colour temperature, expressed in Kelvin scale (K), generally ranges between 3000K (warm white light), 4000K (Neutral white light) and 5000K (cool white light).
